Canon was founded on August 10th in 1937 as Seikikōgaku kenkyūsho (Precision Optical Industry) and with it’s long history it has produced a vast amount of various cameras but stayed with the sub-miniature format. A fun fact for some, Canon did not have and facilities to produce its own lenses when it started up so it had to rely on Nikkor lenses from Nippon now known as Nikon! That’s right, the two major rivals in both film and digital today once co-operated with each other.
